Our perspective on From Corton to Montrachet
Why we created the From Corton to Montrachet wine tour
For many wine lovers, Burgundy's great white wines represent the ultimate reference.Names such as Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Montrachet are associated with some of the world's most prestigious vineyards.
Yet it is often difficult to understand what makes these places so unique when limited to tasting a wine or studying a map.
We created the From Corton to Montrachet wine tour to allow participants to discover these remarkable vineyards directly in the field and gain a deeper understanding of the landscapes that shape Burgundy's finest white wines.
Why discover great white wines in the vineyard?
A bottle already tells a fascinating story. But observing the slope of a hillside, the exposure of a vineyard parcel or the position of a cru within its environment provides a completely different level of understanding.
Throughout the tour, we take time to observe the landscape, the topography and the organization of the vineyards.
We explain how geology, altitude, exposure and history have contributed to the reputation of these exceptional sites.
Our objective is simple: to connect what is in the glass with what is directly in front of us.
We wanted to offer a different perspective.
Travelling along Burgundy's vineyard roads, we explore some of the most iconic villages of the Côte de Beaune while enjoying viewpoints rarely experienced during a traditional visit.
From the Corton hillside to the Grand Cru vineyards of Montrachet, the landscape itself becomes a powerful learning tool.
Very often, the vineyard explains in a few minutes what hours of theory sometimes struggle to convey.
Premier Crus and Grands Crus complement one another and demonstrate the extraordinary diversity of Burgundy Chardonnay.
Through these wines, we aim to highlight:
• differences in style between villages
• the influence of terroir
• variations in balance and structure
• Burgundy's vineyard hierarchy
• the distinctive personality of each vineyard site.
Observing a vineyard while tasting a wine that expresses it creates an experience that is difficult to replicate in a more conventional setting.
This approach often makes concepts such as exposure, climat and terroir far easier to understand and remember.
• you would like to discover the vineyards that produce them
• you appreciate personalized experiences
• you enjoy landscapes as much as wine
• you are looking for an immersive experience in the Côte de Beaune.
• you prefer a highly technical format
• your primary interest is Burgundy red wines
• you are simply looking for an introductory wine tasting.
They leave with a better understanding of:
• Burgundy's vineyard hierarchy
• the differences between Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards
• the geography of the Côte de Beaune
• the relationship between landscape and wine
• the reasons behind the worldwide reputation of certain vineyards.
Beyond the wines themselves, they gain a more concrete and more vivid understanding of Burgundy.
Upon prior request, a third or fourth participant can be accommodated, as our Jeep Wrangler has sufficient capacity.
Here, participants observe the vineyards, climats and hillsides directly while tasting the wines. This immersive approach creates a much stronger connection between the landscape and the wine.
Upon request, it is possible to enjoy one tour in the morning and the other in the afternoon, creating a full day dedicated to Burgundy's finest red and white wine vineyards.
Between Corton and Montrachet, every stop is an opportunity to observe, understand and taste.
This unique combination of landscape, terroir and wine is the very essence of the From Corton to Montrachet wine tour.
